Como Bike Club is open to middle school and junior high students as a way to explore bikes and biking. Como Bike Club kids get to be in bike parades, learn how to bike safely, participate in bike based service projects, learn about bikes in sports, and engage in advocacy to make the world a safer place for folks who bike.

Bike Club Activities Calendar 2011-2012
Fall Semester:
- Monster Bike Bash - October 29, 2011, 8:30am-10am - Bike Club kids will decorating bikes and airing up tires for folks who are participating in the Monster Bike Bash for small donations. In addition, we will be collecting warm winter gear for low income folks around Columbia who bike and walk as their primary transportation. If you would like to help out emai: [email protected]. - Bike to Living Windows Festival - Friday December 2, 2011, 5:30 pm-8pm - Family fun ride. Meet for snacks and bike decorating with Christmas lights and reflectors, then ride downtown together for an evening of holiday fun. Learn more: http://www.discoverthedistrict.com/holiday/living_windows.html
- Semester End Pizza Party - December, 21, 2011 - On the last day of school, we will bike downtown to Shakespeare's Pizza for a pizza party!
- Bike Day at the Capitol - We will take our bikes and go to the Capitol in Jefferson City to talk to legislators about ways to improve biking and walking in our state. We will also go on a bike ride with state legislators. Learn more: http://mobikefed.org/CapitolDay
- True/False Film Festival Parade - March 1, 2012 - We will make floats out of bike carts and decorate our bikes, then we will ride in the True/False March March Parade. Learn more: http://offtrackevents.com/marchmarch.php
- Earth Day - Bike Club will have a booth at Earth Day. We will have a Bike Spa where people can get a mini bike tune up for a small donation. We will use donations as part of a service project which the kids will vote on. Last year's Como Bike Club kids raised $650 and bought a bike and bike ambulance for a village in Zambia. COMO Bike Club accomplishments 2010-2011:
True/False Film Festival – The kids made floats out of bike carts, decorated their bikes, and rode in the True/False Parade. The kids sponsored and manned a Bike Valet and Bike Spa station at True/False earning money for Zambikes.
Bike Day – Twelve Bike Club kids went to Jefferson City for Bike Day at the Missouri State Capitol. They talked to legislators about the importance of safer biking and walking to schools. In addition, the kids rode in the six mile ‘Legislative Bike Ride’ with bike advocates and state law-makers. Everyone was very impressed with the Bike Club kids. I have attached the letter Bike Club drafted and gave to state legislators.
Earth Day- The Bike Club kids planned and manned a Bike Spa station at Earth Day earning money for Zambikes.
